Adolescence- is the transitional phase of growth and development between childhood and adulthood. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines an adolescent as any person between ages 10 and 19 years. Different societies describe the stage in varied ways, but one thing is common that teenagers do not have clear roles in their community but rather occupy an ambiguous period between childhood and adulthood.

An adolescent crisis- can be defined in many ways, but it typically refers to the upheaval that happens during this period, such as the changes that can take place in multiple dimensions, including emotional components, psychological factors, and physical development (Roger, 2014). Teenagers go through a psychosocial stage referred to as identity versus role confusion, and much of their energy is invested in the search for their identity amidst gender and vocational roles (career).

Existing need for counselling - Share with a Counsellor will help parents, teachers and the teenagers when a crisis emerges, without travelling to any office, right at your space talk to us today via your phone. We’ve seen how the changes during adolescence can disrupt families, derail career goals and lives of future parents/ leaders. Being a teen is difficult these days, with peer pressure, school demands, and just life in general, our teens are more and more prone to experiencing anxiety, depression, substance abuse, difficulty in relationships among others.

The telltale signs of emerging Crisis- When your teens come home and immediately stares at her/his phone blocking interaction and connection with family/ friends; s/he stays in their room; s/he argues with most authority that includes parents, elder siblings and teachers at any slight provocation; they detest constructive feedback that is received with bouts of meltdowns/crying or silence. Teenagers demonstrate their hostility to authority mostly by disappearing without a word and switching off their mobile phones, to communicate they are experiencing a crisis; which is marked by negative emotions like anger, disappointment, confusion, frustrated, stressed, discouraged, sadness.
